Process

Pre-descaling techniques
Through electrolysis, the scale ions in the water will be precipitated on the cathode surface and then be removed by the scrapper. Electrolysis reaction chamber maintained a certain current, a number of high concentration of hydroxide ions are formed close to the cathode (reaction chamber wall), such elevated pH environment (pH about 13) will make easy scaling of scaling minerals and precipitated from water, adsorbed on electrolytic reaction chamber wall. Under automatic control system, the scraper will scrape down the scales and automatically discharged.

Corrosion Mitigation Technology
Electrolysis reaction chamber is connected with the pipe, play cathodic protection. Active substance (active oxygen and hydroxide radicals) produced in the electrolysis apparatus pipe wall to form a protective film, the isolation wall oxygen and oxidation corrosion. This process is fully automatic operation, automatically adapt to changes in water quality, to achieve corrosion inhibition.

Sterilization Technology
A large number of O3、OH-、O-2、H2O2、O2 are released while functioning, which has a strong bactericidal effect. Together with the patented copper & silver ion collector, 99.8% of the bacteria and algae in water will be removed, including Legionella.

What is electrolysis?
Electrolysis is a process where electrical energy will change in chemical energy. The process happens in an electrolyte, a watery solution or a salt melting which gives the ions a possibility to transfer between two electrodes. The principle of electrolysis can be used in water to achieve water disinfection.

Which is the disinfection mechanism?
In the process of electrolysis, the water is exposed to a low-voltage direct current between the electrodes. Salts present in the water between the electrodes will be converted into oxidizing or disinfecting components. 

Positive ions generated in the water through electrolysis search for particles of opposite polarity, such as bacteria, viruses and fungi. Positively charged copper ions form electrostatic compounds with negatively charged cell walls of microorganisms. These compounds disturb cell wall permeability and cause nutrient uptake to fail. As a result, there is no more cellular growth or cell division, causing bacteria to no longer multiply and eventually die out. 
Electrolysis will, among other disinfectants, also create sodium hypochlorite, which is able to kill a great variety of germs and then is very used as disinfectant in swimming pools.

Advantages of Platinized Titanium Anodes

Platinized titanium anodes are of superior quality deposition and consistency, while has an increase in productivity and throughput. There are several advantages of applying Platinized Titanium Anodes for Hard Chrome Plating.

Easier handling and re-coating
Positioning of lead anodes for optimizing chrome plating is often awkward due to their weight, whereas spot welded or bolted mesh anodes are very light by comparison and allow safer and easier handling. Furthermore, they can be easily removed and / or replaced whenever necessary. This often allows a re-use of expensive anode materials and designs, and reduces operational costs.

Long life, dimensionally stable and easily fabricated into any shape
Titanium anodes are dimensionally stable throughout their operating life and can easily be manufactured, even in complex shapes and lengths, up to 4m. Consequently, shaped anodes can be manufactured very accurately to allow consistent plating to small tolerances, often making a further honing step unnecessary.

Environment - Friendly 
No chemical cleaning or brushing of passivated areas is necessary. Bath life is increased as there is no formation of lead sludge - lead anodes produce about 3g of lead sludge for every 1kg of chromium deposited in sulphuric acid type baths and even higher in other baths. Furthermore, the reduced resistance losses and subsequent need for cooling allow for easier maintenance and control of the plating chemistry.

Homogeneous and long-lasting active surface
Platinized titanium anodes, operated correctly, remain deposit free and therefore perform constantly well throughout the whole anode life.

Energy savings with shaped anodes and small anode/cathode distances
Small electrode gaps reduce electrical resistance losses in the plating bath and produce energy savings. In the case of lead anodes, which cannot be formed as accurately as a mesh, resistance losses result in bath heating, requiring further energy for cooling. Therefore, platinised titanium anodes can provide energy savings
both in heating and cooling which, in turn, allows the plating chemistry to be easier to manage and maintain.

Mesh anodes provide excellent throwing and can be used at high current densities
In electrolysis, corners and edges are preferred reaction sites; an expanded mesh has edges evenly distributed across the anode surface, thus producing uniform current density and excellent plating results. Large area mesh anodes improve throwing power and the mesh structure allows good solution movement and electrolyte exchange and plating with high current densities.

TYPICAL  APPLICATIONS
Mixed metal oxide anodes have proven to operate effectively in all types of environments, including areas with extremely low pH levels (under 1), and high chloride concentrations. While Borui’s tubular anodes can be used singularly, their unique configuration also makes them ideal for use in strings on offshore platforms or in deep ground beds. In addition, the string anodes can be installed parallel to transmission pipelines, or used for other special applications.

TECHNICAL SPECIFICATIONS
MMO coatings are generally offered on titanium substrates to ASTM B265 Grade 1 or 2 for sheet, strip and mesh; ASTM B348 Grade 1 or 2 for rod and wire products; and ASTM B338 Grade 1 or 2 for tubular products.

The anodes are made using tubular titanium substrates which are coated with a mixed metal oxide catalyst. The tubular design of these anodes also allows for numerous performance benefits. The tubular configuration provides a larger surface area, which in turn permits greater current output and lower anode to earth resistance. The tubular style also means lead wire connections can be made in the centre of the anode. With Borui’s tubular anodes this connection consists of two half bracelet lead slabs which grip firmly to the internal circumference of the anode and copper conductor. This connection is protected from moisture intrusion by epoxy which fills the entire anode tube. The ends of the anode are then covered with shrink tubing for a completely sealed electrical connection.
